1. Adore an animal The Sacramento Zoo giraffes are movin’ on up—their habitat received the extreme makeover treatment! At Tall Wonders, the grand reopening and celebration (see the 12th), you can scope out the new digs, which include expanded grounds, an elevated visitor walkway and a state of the art house.

2. Hug a bug Or watch them fly! See The Butterfly Lovers (see the 19th), China’s stage adaptation of a story that rivals that of Romeo and Juliet. This production is rarely seen outside of China, but it graces the Mondavi Center stage this month!

3. Get passionate …about pancakes on National Pancake Day (see the 23rd). IHOP serves free short stacks in exchange for a donation to the Children’s Miracle Network. Nine area locations ensure lots of happy, full bellies and tons of donated funds.

4. Find a Prince Charming …in the Young People’s Theater of Folsom’s rendition of the timeless love story, Sleeping Beauty(see the 20th).

5. Get Your Learning On February 6th is Museum Day, when learning is fun, free and family-friendly! Tons of Greater Sacramento museums open their doors to the public for free. Click here for details.
