Look at what else
we won:
Gold for
General Excellence
Here’s what the judges had to say about Sacramento Parent: “This
publication shows it has a high standard for the writing and quality of editorial
content. It is well-edited, smart and fun to read. The design and layout show
that they get the attention they deserve… Editorial content goes beyond
just local issues and addresses parenting concerns on a grander scale.”
Gold for
Web Site Design
Judges’ comments: “SacramentoParent.com has used a simple layout
to deliver a wealth of content. The use of photos is helpful and draws the eye
in to additional editorial information within the site.”
Gold for
Special Section within a Publication
Sacramento Parent’s Annual Special Needs Issue (August
2008)
“The abundance and variety of the material in this section comprise a
strong resource for parents. Of particular strength is the practical information.
The writers approached the topic of special needs students with sensitivity
and compassion, while also acknowledging the diversity of opinions on what are
best practices for education and health care.”
Silver
for Front Cover/Glossy Original Photo
“Education and Enrichment Guide” (July 2008) Photographer:
Alexandra Frankel
“The subject’s expression and body language are so natural that
it’s easy to imagine her laughter. The soft background draws attention
to her face. The photograph fits the theme of an Education and Enrichment Guide.”
Bronze
for News Feature
“Should You Bank Your Baby’s Cord Blood?” (August
2008)
“Vivid writing brings life to a complex topic – whether to save
the blood from a child’s umbilical cord for future use. A complete discussion
of the topic.”
Bronze
for our Green Scene column
“Which Hybrid Fits Your Family?” (April 2008), Family Matters
Column category:
“Informational columns presented in a user-friendly way. The organization
really helps the reader navigate, and the information is written well and compelling.”
Prizes are
awarded annually, with Gold, Silver and Bronze awards going to publications
within three audited circulation categories. Sacramento Parent Magazine falls
in the central 30,001-54,999 category—also the most popular and arguably
the most competitive category, we might add. We distribute 50,000 magazines
throughout Greater Sacramento every month – and that number is regularly
and independently audited by the Circulation Verification Council, in accordance
with PPA standards for integrity and transparency.
