Easter-rific celebrations in Greater Sacramento and beyond

The sun is shining, the birds are chirping, a certain bunny is hiding colorful eggs – yes, it must be Easter! So, gather your little bunnies, don’t forget the camera, and hop by any of these eggstremely fun events.

Easter Bunny Social (4/4)
The whole family will enjoy face painting, balloons, crafts, coloring, raffles and a special visit with "Amanda Cottontail." 12noon-4pm in front of the food court in Sunrise Mall.

Paint with the Bunny (4/8)
Mr. Easter makes a special pre-holiday appearance at Color Me Mine in Folsom. Stop by to visit the bunny or stop by to paint (and you’re likely to get a fuzzy, paw-like helping-hand, if you do!). No purchase necessary to join the fun: 11am-9pm. 351-9008

Visit the Easter Bunny (through 4/11)
Hop over to the Arden Fair Mall's Center Court for your a chance to visit with the bunny, take photos and receive a free gift! 11am-8pm Monday-Saturday and 12noon-6pm Sunday. Photo packages start at $15. (Find a photo coupon on their Web site before you go!)

Spring Eggs-Stravaganza (4/11-12)
Three egg hunts, prizes, puppet shows, crafts and pictures with the big bunny! 11am-3pm at Fairytale Town in Land Park of Sacramento. Puppet show tickets: $1 members, $2 nonmembers; photos additional cost. Park open on Easter 10am-4pm (weather permitting).

Eggsciting Easter Adventure (4/11)
Enjoy eggs filled with candy and prizes, courtesy of the Easter Bunny, in the free egg hunt, plus carnival games, choo-choo rides, bounce houses and contests. Nostalgia getting the best of you? Missing those colorful beauties? Well, start honing those egg-hunting skills for the Adult Egg Hunt ($3) to win gift cards from local businesses! Carnival begins 9am, egg hunt begins 10am, at Fair Oaks Park in Fair Oaks.

Spring Eggstravaganza (4/11)
Eat a pancake breakfast with the Easter Bunny, play carnival games, hunt for eggs and participate in more fun activities 8:30am-12:30pm at Elk Grove Regional Park in Elk Grove. Breakfast is $5 and seating is limited. 405-5300

Egg Hunt (4/11)
The Bayside Church of Placerville presents the big, great Easter Egg Hunt. 11am-2pm at El Dorado County Fairgrounds’ Main Lawn in Placerville. Free. (530) 626-7288

The Easter Bunny Visits Railtown (4/11)
Join your fluffy friend at Railtown 1897 State Historical Park in Jamestown, where you can boogie to some tunes or hunt for Easter eggs at 11:30am on the Roundhouse lawn.

Easter Egg Hunt & Pancake Breakfast (4/11)
Fuzzy bunnies, colorful eggs and delicious pancakes at Carmichael Park's Clubhouse in Carmichael. 7-11am Kiwanis breakfast, 10am egg hunt begins (ages 8 and under).

Eggstravaganza & Spring Polar Plunge (4/11)
Begin with a pancake breakfast, then head to the kiddie carnival for fun, games, displays and the Big Egg Hunt.
8-11am at Lembi Park in Folsom. After the hunt, celebrate the opening of the giant 165-foot water slide—don't forget swimsuits! Free. 355-7285

35th Annual Egg Hunt (4/11)
This free and fun event includes face painting, bounce houses, pictures with the Easter Bunny and egg hunt divisions (will you find that special Golden Egg this year?). The bunny arrives at 10am at Rassmussen Park in Cameron Park. (530) 677-2231

Eggster Hunt & Learning Festival (4/11)
Organized by a non-profit student organization, the Eggster is not just the largest free egghunt in Northern California, it's also a learning event filled with booths, educational activities, and charities supporting youth education.

Spring Celebration & Easter Parade (4/12)
Known as the Biggest Little Parade, this 18th annual event will fill the streets with family-friendly rides, games, activities, costumed characters and some of the Bay Area's best musicians. Bring the camera to remember the Easter you spend watching a parade filled with the likes of roller-blading cows, classic cars, and other wacky celebrations of Spring. 10am-5pm (parade begins at 2pm) in Union Square of San Francisco.

Eggstraordinary Egg Hunt (4/12)
Kids hunt for thousands of chocolate candy eggs, hidden in a redwood forest by the Easter Bunny. Themed crafts and games for the whole family follow at Roaring Camp Railroads in Felton.

Egg Science: An Ova-view of Eggs (4/12)
Take a scientific look nature’s largest cells: eggs. Explore their wondrous workings with staff biologists – investigate their amazing properties, learn about naked eggs, sea urchin egg fertilization, and life inside an egg. 2pm at the San Francisco Exploratorium. (415) EXP-LORE

Rocklin Firefighters Easter Egg Hunt (4/12)
The firefighters host their free, annual Easter Egg hunt at 1pm at Johnson-Springview Park in Rocklin. Intended for ages 10 and under. 625-5300
